CALL FOR PROPOSALS

TCC Hawaii invites faculty, support professionals, librarians, counselors, student affairs professionals, graduate students, administrators, and consultants interested in learning technologies to submit proposals for papers and general sessions presentations.

THEME

Learning technologies continue to influence how we learn, create and share. Online tools transform communication, networking, and collaboration. Learning today is global, life-long, ubiquitous, and irrespective of time and place. Technology enables educators to provide immersive and compelling experiences to learners of all ages.

This year, the conference staff continues to highlight current practices and research related to trending topics in educational technology such as digital literacy, learning spaces, online learning, mobile learning, collaboration, emerging technologies, and sustainability.

TOPICS

TCC invites papers and general session proposals related to learning, design, and technology such as e-learning, learning communities, digital literacy, social media, online privacy, mobile and emerging technologies, gamification, faculty and staff support, and professional development.

We will accept a broad range of proposals, including, but not limited to:

– Assessment of online learning
– Augmented reality learning
– Big data and learning analytics
– Blogging and vlog experiences
– Building and sustaining communities of learners
– Connectivism and connected learning
– Digital literacy
– Digital security & safety
– Distance learning communities of practice (COP)

– E-books and other methods of content delivery

– Educational technology in developing countries
– Emergency preparedness for natural disasters
– Emerging technologies, e.g. wearables, robotics, drones
– Enabling student collaboration, creativity, and advocacy
– Ethics and social issues in online learning
– Flipped learning
– Gamification and game-based learning
– Gender, equity, and open access

– ICT and Web 2.0 tools in learning
– Instructional applications in virtual worlds
– Intercultural communication and competency
– Internet of things (IOT)
– Massive open online courses (MOOC)
– Mobile learning, tools, and classroom applications
– Online collaboration for teaching and learning
– Online learning resources in libraries, learning centers, etc.
– Online student services, advising, and learning support

– Perspectives and immersive experiences with learning technologies

– Sustainable, adaptive, and ubiquitous learning spaces

PROPOSALS

This conference accepts proposals in two formats: papers and general sessions.

Papers are SUBMITTED IN FULL and subjected to a double-blind peer review. Papers that do not meet submission requirements will be returned to the primary author. Accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings. Papers may be considered for publication in the International Journal for Educational Media and Technology (IJEMT).

General sessions may be conducted in various ways including a forum, discussion, roundtable, panel, or pre-conference activity. These proposals will be peer reviewed prior to acceptance.

Proposals that involve student presenters are highly encouraged. Fees for student presenters will be waived. Student presentations may be grouped together and scheduled later in the day.

Acceptances will be conveyed to the primary author or presenter by email.

The submission deadline for all proposals is extended to December 29, 2018. Papers are submitted IN FULL and will be accepted through December 29, 2018.

PRESENTER RESPONSIBILITIES

Presenters are expected to:
– Participate in a pre-conference orientation session.
– Use a headset with a microphone during the presentation.
– Maintain timely communications with the conference staff.
– Conduct an informal, interactive online session related to your proposal.
– Upload a photo, a brief professional bio, and related presentation materials.
– Respond to questions and comments from participants during the entire conference.

REGISTRATION

All presenters are required to register online and pay the online conference fee ($99 USD; $129 USD after March 31) or register as a group member. Contact us for group rates (one fee for all participants from a single campus or system).

VENUE

Participate in this event entirely ONLINE. We deliver all sessions in real-time. A broadband connection is necessary. All sessions will be live and interactive. Sessions are recorded for later viewing.
